I am very junior member on IV forums and have listened to all the experts and senior members on IV from time to time. Very solid ideas and very intelligent people! Although, I am not too familiar with the intricacies of what DOS said or what USCIS said; what I know is that there are many thousands of us who are here in a limbo for many many years. I think we have been "super- nice" to USCIS and Congress in the way we have approached them for our problems and rightly so - thats just us!
We have done our best educate them via lobbying efforts etc but wouldnt you agree that its time be a little more "assertive' now. Seriously, we dont know what the bigger picture is here. Year after Year, Month after month nothing moves with USCIS. Same old grim Visa Bulletin. I had written elsewhere that I dont even remember what my dates are anymore! Being in a western country or anywhere else in the world for 10-12 years is a long time. The culture, the enviroment and the system grows on you. Most of us left from India or elsewhere, when we were in our mid 20s . As young adults most of were explorers - soaking information, knowledge, new skills etc as we embarked on our journey to settle down in a foreign country. I think its fair to say that most of us have actually acquired our adult wisdom here. What I am getting to, is that when people talk about packing their bags and going back home - it may only be easier said than done!
I am not an expert at this but I believe we may have to come together again and we will need more visibility - maybe a six month long agressive assertive campaign - letters, flowers, rally and more all together so that we can catch congress' attention. It seems like legislation is the only way out here. Again, please pardon my inability to comprehend issues correctly, if I am wrong in saying so, but if we continue to rely on visa bulletins and USCIS; nothing is going to happen. All I can say is that whatever leaders and intellects at IV decide, I am here in anyway you all need me to help! Please feel free to ask for help at jaisinghaII@gmail.com. This bulletin seems to have a more-detailed-than-usual write-up on PD movement and projections. It'll be interesting to see how ppl interpret the comments from Dept of State regarding projections.

fyi..
When ever you start working on EAD (filled I-9 form??)..then technically H1-B status will get invalidated...

that might be your attitude. some people have a different opinion and dont like to bend over when circumstances try to screw them. If you pay for something and get a lemon you might be ok with living with it and moving on, saying its non-refundable. Many others dont share that view. They'll fight for a replacement, a fix, some solution to the problem.
If all you can do is bend over, then move on, you are wasting your time on IV.

here is small shortcut:So switch off javascript
on IE go
Tools>Internet Options>Security>Internet>Custom level>Scripting
Close the browser and open it for again for your state.

aarbi, did you do your medicals, did you loose your work day, did you paid your attorney, did your wife(if any) came back from middle of the vacation, did you had health problem when you done your medicals....did your app got stuck at USCIS for years......

My wife is in the exact sme situation as yours . She to scramble around in India to get her passport re-validated after my H1 extension in the middle of her vacation and board the next flight to US , go through the medical tests only to find out that the dates have been pushed back again.

We have several bills that are being discussed to provide releif for all of us stuck in the Green Card process. We have very few dedicated volunteers working very hard and knocking the doors of representatives across the country seeking support for our bills. We need to lobby hard to get releif for all of us in this election year and lobbying is not cheap. We need dollars to keep up our lobbying efforts. We need help with raising dollars that are needed to keep working for our cause. We do not have Star Players and/or Star Athletes raising funds to support our cause. We need to do it ourselves. Eb2 people are highly qualified compared to EB3. I encourage EB2 people do the following before taking the action against eb3 to eb2.
1.Get more GC numbers.
2.Upgrade your self to EB1. So that you can get visas immediately.
3.Fight for GC approvals in FIFO order.
If you ignore above issues but focus on Eb3 to Eb2, you are definitely from EB2 and you want to fight for your own GC. Nothing else matters to you.

Its not a rumor. This is real. Coming to think abt it, he had filed a labor in 2000/2001 time period and had abandoned it when he switched companies. I am wondering if USCIS takes the oldest one an applicant had ever filed.

Have you visited the offices of US Congressmen in DC, and tried to explain our issue to Senators and Congressmen? Yes, I have. I was asked the same question in each and every office - "If half-a-million people are impacted by the backlogs, how come only 3-4 people (idiots like me) visit us with this complaint. Why aren't we visited by our other constituents? Why don't your members even write letters to us?".
This is THE REASON why the movement has not made much headway.
It is always an option for any one with in their org, but if his point is wrong, then IV core leadership should prove him that they are not sitting idle or moving very very slow.
Every one starting their own organization or asking to do so doesn't solve the purpose.

The best way is this .
1) Apply labor and I140 .
2) Once I-140 is approved have an understanding with the companyeturn to ( attorney ) that they will not stip your GC processing .
3) Return to Booming India and have fun and make money . Raise kids . Change jobs .
4) Hope that the PD will be current by the time you are 60 and ready to retire .Get your GC stamped in India by 2040 . :D
5) Retire in the USA in instead of India . :D
