you need to stop getting answers from others and solve this problem amicably with you wife. There is nothing better than a one-one discussion with her.
Marrying is like buying a company, you have a moral obligation to account for any liabilities she may have.
Understand, she may have been the sole income earner in India for her parents. It doesnot hurt for you to send say 200-300 dollars every month. 700 dollars every month from your check is not that big deal (350 for each family). Don't make it a long term solution.
You have filed 485, what stops your wife from getting a job here?? Does she want to stay at home, watch TV and enjoy life? if she thinks that way, let her know, if she wants to send money to her parents long term, she needs to get out of house, find a job

He's been an advocate on backlog issues, and his staff had helped look into my case last year. I used his web site to send him an email (for VA residents only), slightly modifying the phone script to thank him, since I finally got my green card in November. Will post response when I receive it.

This is specifically for those people who have never contributed but feel like contributing but for some reason hesitate to pull the trigger. For all such people who start a monthly contribution of $50 and promise (not to me or anyone else but themselves) to keep contributing for at least the next 6 months, I am going to make a one-time contribution of $50 for every such person. I have a modest upper limit, which I will disclose after the first 10 new contributors.
So people, Sept 18th is approaching fast and IV needs your contribution. Now is the time.
The only requirement is that the member has never contributed before and starts a $50 dollar recurring contribution. For every two new contributors I will make a $100 one-time contribution. Moderators may verify my contribution.
This is great thinking and wonderful initiative. It is a lesson how we all can be creative and help others motivate. It reminds of a story. There were two teams US and Japanese. They each were divided into two groups each and made to stand facing each other. There was a imaginary line drawn and the goal of each team is to convince their team members on the other side of the line to cross over. US Team were never able to convince their team members to cross over and move to other side.
Japanese simply said to their team members on other side.. If you cross over we will also cross over.. and they won. As simple as it may sound here is a classic example shown by Milind. You rock Milind.
And you make me feel proud in being associated with you in this struggle for our cause.
I am also in the drive for funds with my indifferent colleagues. See you in DC.

EB2 benefited from EB1 spillover once this bucket is full - I'm sure EB3 will move a great deal.
Another reason could also be EB2ROW spillover.
It is unfortunate for EB3 folks that their dates are not moving.
Let us wait for the official DOS bulletin and see what reasons they give to advance the dates significantly. Else IV can contact DOS to know how these projections were made.

why do they even have to locate old files physically?
All the data about case file number (LINXXX, SRCXX, etc), status and the associated priority date is in a single/distributed database (else we would not be able to check our status online )
WHY CAN'T USCIS NOT RUN A QUERY AGAINST THIS DATBASE....?
Easier said than done - we have no clue what they do - what pattern they follow - but what has happened clearly suggests that there are many disconnects and there are always excuses.
The flood of approvals that come during end of fiscal year is just to avoid issues with questions raised for inefficiency

In this era of IT, USCIS keeps crying about being bombarded suddenly with this application that applications. I wonder such a big agency doesn't have projections etc. When you Adjudicated millions of Green cards lin 2002-2003 than obviously you are going to get bombarded with Application for Citizenship in 2007 you weren't prepared for that ??? This organization is headed by most incompetant people who doesn't have any clue of Management, I guess they should go back to school...
We're much better off here in the US when you compare our compatriots suffering in Britain. Britain has enforced a lot more regulations on immigrants, much to their chagrin.

How does that work? There is no law or process to connect an abandoned labor. I had approved labor with a PD of 1999 that got lost when I switched companies. But no one seems to be connecting that to me.

Great idea, although I prefer the "Whatever Clock (http://www.amazon.com/California-Clock-Co-Whatever/dp/B00103ON5Y/ref=pd_sbs_k_5)" since their [USCIS] forward and backward movements happen for no apparent rhyme or reason.
